General information for Visitors to our Studio
Welcome to our Rising Phoenix studio!
Our studio has been under renovation, and we, like the Rising Phoenix, are rising from the debris with strength and determination into a present joy and future happiness! We are easy to find, and directions from around Atlanta may be found here.
As we teach, we take one step at a time, so gradually we will offer beginner's Traditional T'ai Chi, a “Power UP!” Qi Gong class, and a very special movement class with a focus on joy! Seated classes will also become available, as will workshops, series sets, and specialty classes!
We have TWO NEW CLASSES opening in September, and more to flow, of our work, as well as of other healthful programs.
Dance, Yoga, Singing, Meditation, and more will be part of our offerings! Our continuing mission is to provide programs to benefit health and wellness, and to refresh, restore, and reinvigorate body, mind, and spirit. We will celebrate and embrace joy!
Are you a certified teacher in your field of health and wellness who might like to teach in our studio? Email us!
Please feel free to email us to be on our list for updates (we never share your info, and only send info twice monthly unless we have a pop-up event!).
This information is for classes held at our studio in the Inman Park neighborhood of Atlanta. We are located in Suite 002 at 1083 Austin Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia, 30307. Registration is required before visiting our studio. Please allow us 48 hours to be in touch with you, we'll send info and answer any questions by email, so two days before a class you'd like to attend provides us time needed, thank you! Please click to email us: info@shouldersdown.com .
Our traditional qi gong and t’ai chi classes are taught in a relaxed and casual manner by certified instructors. All of the moves are taught in detail and at a pace all can follow. Classes are kept to the enrollment that will allow comfortable space for each student as well as to allow for individual attention. Sets of moves are taught so that the student will have a series of moves to perform at home for practice and to “keep” and use forever to improve health.
At the Studio: Amenities, Free Parking
Have some tea
We provide teas for your enjoyment before and during class, and we have installed a “drinks shelf” along the studio walls. You are also welcome to bring any non-alcohol drinks with you. We request that there be no food in the studio, except for specific dietary needs, such as for those of diabetics.
Fragrance Free
We respectfully request that our students refrain from wearing scented lotions, perfumes, and such, as we wish to provide a fresh environment, and some folks are very sensitive to certain aromas and scents. Classes do not burn incense or use any other “room scents” . Thank you for understanding.
Arrival times
We will be at the studio approximately 10-15 minutes before class starts. Feel free to come and settle in, ask questions, have some tea. Please try to arrive on time for classes, as we will begin at the designated times, but do not fret about being late on occasion; still come to class, and relax.
We prefer no shoes in the Studio, but we understand….
The flooring in the Studio is Luxury Vinyl Tile, on top of a cushioned mat, and with just a bit of texture. While most students choose to go barefooted or sockfooted, you may wear your clean shoes--however, we request that they be as clean as possible, and that they are wiped thoroughly at the door. Some students bring “studio shoes”, so your choice, thank you!
Parking
We are located at the corner of Euclid and Austin Avenues in Inman Park/Little 5 Points, address above. We are located just downstairs from the Horizon Theatre. There is well lighted parking behind the building. Please park there and enter through the door in the center of the building. There is a slight ramp down once you enter. Continue straight ahead and you will see our red door. Suite 002.
We look forward to seeing you! Please email us with any questions or concerns, and we will be happy to address any issue. Thank you and Great Chi!
